UCF – Florida’s second largest university – was in need of expansion to address the needs of a growing student body on their campus in Orlando and engaged KUD to develop “Uptown UCF,” a complex of student housing, retail, parking structures and a new Convocation Center / Sports Arena. KUD provided a unique solution, including an innovative financing plan that allowed UCF to utilize off-balance sheet financing, while retaining control over the ownership of the new facilities. KUD developed a creative financing structure that utilized revenues from much needed on-campus student housing and retail to support the debt for the new Convocation Center.
